B DIY: Watercolor circle art

When you can't find art to fit your bathroom decor, you make some! This art cost me less than $10 (excluding the frames from CB2) and was fun to put a personal touch in my favorite space. Not too strict of directions for this DIY, just dip that brush in paint and experiment!

Things I would do differently:

  • Better tape job. Or paint within a stencil. It is not a complete seamless circle around the edge but imperfections make it special right?
  • Invest in a level. Some may argue my frames aren't exactly level but they look pretty good and I'm okay with it.

B DIY: Threaded nail art

It's been a while since I put my crafting skills to work. I've had this project in mind for awhile and it was the perfect finishing piece to my window sill.

Step one: Sketch out your letter (or shape) on the wood block. I chose a serif B because I'm a sucker for anything monogrammed.

Step two: After I evenly spaced nail guide on the block, nail each nail along your letter. This does take time and might be annoying to neighbors.

Step three: Paint your block. I used interior nails that were primed to be covered with paint so that they blended in the wood.

Step four: Start threading. It is important to outline your shape first. I then went back and added more thread to create more design.

Finished. Hang on a wall or display standing alone.

Things I would do differently:
1. Choose a brighter paint color so the thread would pop more.
2. Choose a simpler 'B' design. The serif doesn't really communicate as strong to me.
3. Use spray paint over acrylic paint. Spray paint would have been easier to cover the small crevices between nails.

B Taken: Film snapshots

It takes five days to get film developed these days. The drugstore clerks didn't even know if they developed film but they do and in a matter of days I get to re live my beach vacation all over again. I love the feeling you get from film, the grain gives your photos character. Plus, I love that anticipation of what your photos will look like. Disposable cameras might be a new must have on trips for the future.

B Inspired: Triangle details

Last night in the effort to finally cover those euro sham pillows in my bedroom, I made a purchase at Anthropologie. I loved the embroidered triangles that gave a mix to my existing bed spread (seen here). As always this one purchased, put a creative inspiration to other small details on my brain!

B Styled: Effortless dress

While I was at the beach I peeked in to multiple surf shops. My favorite finds were effortless dresses that took minimal accessories to go from day at the beach to night out to the bonfire.

B Living: Beach life

Three days at the beach were blissful! I'm already having serious withdrawals and thought of five reasons why I would want to give up city life and take it to the beach:
1. I never have to blow dry my hair. Natural texture wins with salt air.
2. No long drive thru line to get coffee but an enjoyable bike ride to the local cafe.
3. No shoes? No problem. Being barefoot is praised.
4. Simple dresses. I love a no fuss, throw on and go outfit. Surf brands keep it simple, sold.
5. Paddle ball counts as a workout.

B Needed: Three sandal must haves

We've been in Delaware for just over a day and I can't say I've worn shoes very often (beach life is amazing). But there are some basics a girl can't live without. And for the rest of the summer, please be sure to check these off your list! The embellished is perfect for when you want the shoe to do the talking. Neon gives a statement with little effort and neutral is that go-to that always works with anything you put on- magic!
